In the process of state building, Ukrainians began to restore old churches and to build new ones. Also, economic circumstances allowed for new city and town churches. Wooden church architecture, however, continued to flourish during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries in the rural areas.
They were built primarily in the Lemko and Boyko regions. Lemko Region The Lemko region is in the southwest corner of western Ukraine, in the westernmost part of the Carpathian region.
