When working as a timer, the timing register adds “1” in each machine cycle. Otherwise, when working as event counter, the register does the addition counting to the external negative jump signal. The rule of sample a signal during each machine cycle is that when sampling to “1” in the previous cycle and to “0” in the afterword cycle, then counter adds “1”. After detecting the jump signal, the new count value loads into counter register in the next state of the current cycle. Figure 6 shows the logic structure diagram of timer/ counter.
6 CONCLUSION In this paper, an SPI Flash controller based on FPGA was achieved for practical application. This method has high portability, as well as simple and convenient user interface. This SPI controller implements a common framework, through software programming, accessing to a variety of SPI devices could be achieved through software programming, not limited to Flash.
