Per Marx, il sapere che meglio aiuta a comprendere i rapporti concreti che caratterizzano la società è la teoria economica, ed è proprio dallo studio degli economisti – in particolare da teorici come Smith e Ricardo – che Marx trarrà le categorie chiave della sua analisi.
